Nailed it!

Back in the day long nails were considered as a status symbol. Nail designs tend to speak a lot about your personality, even though it doesn’t give you any social privilege.

A suitable nail salon needs to be around where you reside, provide quality services, should offer every kind of service and have a comfortable atmosphere as you will be frequenting every month.

There’s just something about having long nails that makes you feel put together. So if you’re new to nail extensions, and can’t make up your mind if you should go for acrylics or gel extensions, here are some things you should definitely know before booking an appointment at a salon (Don’t try this at home, leave it to the experts) :

Have you made up your mind?

Are you certain that you want extensions? ‘Cause it’s definitely going to hinder daily tasks especially if it involves a lot of physical work. An ideal way is to naturally let your nails grow a bit to see if you’re comfortable with it. Nail extensions require regular maintenance which include making frequent trips to the salon (that is, if you really wanna maintain them). Ultimately, it’s gonna be worth it only if you’re willing to put in the time, money and effort.

Finding The Apt Salon

Nail extensions is a highly technical process and you should research well about the salon. The salon which you choose should be clean and hygienic and the staff should be extremely well trained and should use premium products. Don’t get too happy with salons offering cheap rates. After all, the end result is all that matters.

Acrylic or Gel?

Although they may seem look the same, feel the same, they have a few differences. An acrylic nail extension is an artificial nail tip which is glued onto the length of your nails and then a mix of powder and liquid monomer is applied. While the gel extensions are applied with a premade mix onto the actual nail. Acrylic nails are cheaper but they can cause more damage to your natural nails than gel extensions. If you want long nails, it’s better to opt for acrylic nail extensions, but if you want a natural-looking manicure then you should opt for gel extensions.

The Final Outcome

Post your salon session, you’ll know what a perfect job looks like when you see it. These nail extensions last for about a month post which a gap will appear between the extension and the cuticle when the natural nail grows again. You’ll have to make a trip to the salon again to either get them refilled or removed. DO NOT attempt to do this on your own.
